Frequently asked Questions

  • Q: How do I log into my ATU Donegal email account
A: We are transitioning away from LYIT email accounts. You will need to set up your ATU email account. Please follow the steps below to log into your ATU account for the first time. * Open a private browsing session in your internet browser. For Google Chrome, this is an Incognito Window. For Microsoft Edge, this is an InPrivate Window. For Safari, this is Private mode.
    * Browse to https://www.lyit.ie/Student-Hub, then scroll down to Student Email and click the link
    * Sign in with your Student ID, but with the ATU handle. So L00******@atu.ie and enter your password. It will be the same password you used for your LYIT email account.
    * The screen will say “more info required” - download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. Agree to the terms.
    *
If you have been using a laptop/desktop computer for the previous steps, on your browser, click until you see the QR code on screen. Scan QR code with your mobile device. The ATU account should now be added to the authenticator. If you have been using a mobile device for the previous steps, rather than scan a QR code, you will be met with a screen that allows you to pair your account with Microsoft Authenticator. You must press the link to pair your account to your device – please do not click Next past this step, or it will not pair. If you have clicked Next by mistake, press the back button on your browser and start again. *
After your account is paired with Microsoft Authenticator, a push notification will be sent to your mobile device. Approve the request. Click Next and Done on the browser you were using to log in. Log in with your new ATU account.
  • Q: I am logged into my ATU email account. Where are my old LYIT emails?
A: Your ATU account is a fresh start email, which will only have emails that were sent to it directly. If you need any of your older LYIT emails, you will need to log into your LYIT email account and forward them to your ATU email account. We will provide video help on exporting your LYIT email, coming soon.
  • Q: When I try to log into my ATU email outside of a private browsing session, it is not letting me continue. I am getting an error message. Why is this?
A: This is likely due to your web browser still remembering your LYIT login credentials and trying to open your LYIT email account instead of letting you log into your ATU email account. Try signing out of your LYIT account in Outlook/web browser completely. If you are unable to sign out of these manually, you may need to clear your saved logins/passwords so it will “forget” your LYIT login credentials and allow you to log in with your ATU email account.
  • Q: I cannot register for the new academic year, it is giving me an error when I click on the link to register. How do I get around this?
A: This is likely due to your browser trying to log you into the registration website using your old LYIT credentials. Try logging in using a private browsing method. For Google Chrome, this is an Incognito Window. For Microsoft Edge, this is an InPrivate Window. For Safari, this is Private mode. Once you have gone to the registration website in a private browser, log in with your ATU credentials to continue to registration.
  • Q: I cannot view exam results, it is giving me an error when I try to access the results website. How do I get around this?
A: This is likely due to your browser trying to log you into the exam results website using your old LYIT credentials. Try logging in using a private browsing method. For Google Chrome, this is an Incognito Window. For Microsoft Edge, this is an InPrivate Window. For Safari, this is Private mode. Once you have gone to the exam results website in a private browser, log in with your ATU credentials to continue and view your exam results.
  • Q: I cannot pay my fees online, it is giving me an error when I try to access the fee payment website. How do I get around this?

For Google Chrome, this is an Incognito Window. For Microsoft Edge, this is an InPrivate Window. For Safari, this is Private mode.
